About Us
Preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences and reducing their effects
Adverse Childhood Experiences are a root cause of trauma, result in wasted lives and are a huge cost to individuals, communities and society - wasted lives, premature death, effect on communities e.g. anti-social behaviour, healthcare, justice, education costs, etc.
We care passionately about the effects of ACEs. The My ACE Story initiative seeks to prevent and/or reduce childhood trauma.
We do this by raising awareness, helping you identify your childhood experiences and offering help through information and links to other services. This hopefully will enable you to also understand the effect of ACEs on your children and so this leads to future prevention and reduction.
We value each individual’s experience and journey. ACEs are what happened to us as children. They are not our fault. We can take steps toward caring for ourselves, our growth, and our healing and recovery. We can change our lives and legacies.
My ACE Story is a social enterprise and is funded by its founder and used to raise awareness of ACEs.
It is led by Geoff Knott who is a trustee of two charities, a co-founder of many initiatives, a director of start-up companies as well as having held senior corporate positions and led a medium-sized charity. He has lived in six countries and spends most of his time helping initiatives on a voluntary basis.
